You will be taking 3 of the 4 simple machines that you chose at random and build a compound machine. This machine will be your invention,
- It must “Do Something” (you decide what that something is).
- It can only use the simple machines you were given. (mechanically)
- It can only have 1 input force to start the device. Each simple machine must ‘start’ the next one without any extra input force.
- You must blueprint it before you can start building it. (it can be a rough blueprint but it must be planned out before you start building, you can redraw it after you finish building the product. The rough draft will be due at the end of the first week.)
- Every week a new timetable must be submitted and assessed at the end of the week.
- You must create an advertisement campaign for your product.
- you will need to create and present a poster/ advertisement (the poster must be put up on the wall at least 2 days before your presentation. It can be no bigger than 1 ft by 3 ft)
- you will need to create and present an infomercial about your product. (I need to see each person involved in the infomercial, they need to be on camera showcasing their knowledge on the product. *talk to me if there’s a problem*).
- you will have to demonstrate the product during a presentation where you will be asked questions about how it works and why I should buy it.
- you will need to create and present a poster/ advertisement (the poster must be put up on the wall at least 2 days before your presentation. It can be no bigger than 1 ft by 3 ft)
- All of your names must be put on the front of the poster and blueprint. Your infomercial must be linked at the bottom of this paper before you present. (if you also had a powerpoint in addition to the infomercial it must be linked as well.)
Grading will break down as follows
Presentation:
- Ability to communicate the advantages of the device
- Ability to communicate and showcase understanding of the device
- Answering questions based on the device.
- Participated in the commercial in a way to help demonstrate the advantages of the device.
Device
- Blueprint is correct and matches device
- Device uses at least 3 of the 4 allowed simple machines. (failure on this part will result in a 0 for the project)
- Device works as intended (you will get to reset if it doesn’t but you will lose points for each reset)
- Device works as intended (yup it’s here twice because it has to work so build early)
Billboard (it must be able to communicate these things)
- What is it?
- What does it do?
- What does it look like?
- Final section based on artistic ability to draw attention and communicate via artistic aesthetics.
